SUMMER TASK : JESSICA HOGAN (TEXTILES IN PRACTICE)

Her pin up in the degree exhibition felt really professional, she had business labels, a finished product and a visual board with examples of how the garment looks on the human body. Her work got chosen to go to the "New Designers" fair in London, which she deserves because her work is faultless. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any of her drawings, and her website only shows two or three pictures of her work, which is a shame as I would've loved to see the development from start to finish.

Jessica Hogan is a textile designer specialising in knitted fabrics for womenswear fashion. Hogan has "explored the relationship between structure and the space in which it sits." She has created her knitted collection by challenging and combining both positive and negative spaces. This is displayed very strongly in her knitted pieces, especially the sleevless top, she's spot on with composition on that piece. Her collection also have a strong connection throughout, her use of pastel colours make the collection seem so innocent. She also have evidence of fabric manipulation in her work, which give the samples form and shape. Her work in a  way in a little similar to Samuel Hall's work, as they worked closely together, but at the same time both tell a different story.
