This week was all about pulling everything together, preparing myself for the first "2 tutor crit presentations". We were required to make two presentation boards showing our final sample and a context board. For my final sample, I have unintentionally stripped back on the colour use compared to my supporting samples and drawings. This was an accident, as I ran out of time to get this finished. But, because I've created such a heavy edge at the bottom, the subtleness in colour seems to work. I've took a risk by placing padding underneath the embellishments, causing then to rise up from the sample background. I've done this because I wanted to create form and shape, bringing it alive like my research.
It was required to design some kind of fashion illustration to support the final sample, which I don't have that much experience with. To my surprise, the response I got from my fashion illustrations was positive. I was told they have potential and for this next project, to try and develop my fashion illustrations. The illustrations make a strong link with my colour groupings in my sketchbook, it's clear to see that's where my ideas have come from.
Over all my presentation was not my best, I did let my nerves get the better of me which I wasn't proud of. But, I know what to expect next time, and I plan to prepare myself better by creating a powerpoint and practising what I'm going to say before hand. My aim for the next project is to develop my final sample and see where what boundaries I can push, to work on a faster pace with my drawings and to practice my fashion illustrations. Fashion is the context in which I am creating for, so I need to teach myself how to present my samples in the correct way.
